      • @MB-UK you should read your own links before you post them.

i read your link, did you?

its full of bills that didnt get passed and ones that LIMITS THE POWER that private and state lawmakers can have on the internet.

not sure why there is even a list really. we are clearly not blocked, censored or monitored, as you are.

The reason liveleak is hosted in teh US is because of your draconian and oppressive censorship and libel laws in the first place.

    • : "Cleanfeed in Canada is a voluntary Internet URL filtering list maintained by Cybertip.ca for use by participating ISPs. Eight major providers, representing approximately 80% of Canada's Internet users, have been using the list since November 2006 to block foreign websites. -- wikipedia"

It isn't "Canada" doing the filtering; it's our ISPs. Not he same as China's government mandated censorship at all.

      • @jum_runky So Canada DOES have censorship?

Applied by private organizations, yes. By the government, no.

Saying "Countries who already censor, block and monitor their citizens on the internet" and listing Canada, is misleading.

It's like saying that since parental controls exist on television systems, the government blocks TV programs.

      • @jum_runky So, for example, if you work for a company and if that company wants to block your access to porn sites during your work time, then they have a right to do it - it would be an example of "private censorship"
However, that brings the next question, aren't all internet cervice providers in the same league, aren't they all "private organizations" too?

Yes. That still doesn't mean "Canada" censors the net.

      • @BongToTheFuture Yeah same story in Aus, but hey, there are millions of other sites that allow you to watch their shows for free anyway.

They are their own worst enemy, maybe if they started joining the net, and stop fighting against it, make their shows available for streaming online with ad's and they wouldn't have these problems... There is obviously big money in it otherwise there wouldn't be thousands of websites offering the same service...

    • This fight is not over. The pullback of the bills is only temporary, till the backers can lightly massage the wording a bit. The bureaucrats and the corporate co-conspirators will continue to push for control of the Internet in the U.S.

They'll wait until the election is over. SOPA is not gone - it's hibernating until after the election.

Exactly.....this is no victory.....there never is. It is reworded, rehashed and then slipped thru some obscure legislation. This was a bill intorduced by the Repubs and if they regain control of the white house, they will push it thur again.

    • I don't mind being censored, blocked and monitored for child pornography, and I actually hope that they will catch as many depraved pedophiles as it could technically be possible. That is the same "freedom" that anyone should have to go out and rape or murder. Rot in hell, bastards.

As for being censored, blocked and monitored for copyright infringement, and I would add ARRESTED for it, yes indeed, so far only the USA has enforced it, notably with the recent cases of TVShack's Richard More..

    • My ISP has actively said they don't give a shit about what people do on the net, as long as it isn't child pornography of course.

They will not issue warnings, they will not hand out anyone's information to any of then piracy companies.

They basically say what you gonna do about it? "Come at me BRO!"

MPAA have tried to sue iiNet multiple times, every time they have lost.
