"Police say the suspect in a foot chase with an officer that resulted in shots fired in Boston's South End neighborhood is dead.

Boston Police say the incident began when officers from their Anti-Crime Unit tried to pull over a car in the city's South End neighborhood with the help of officers in uniform.

Police say the suspect bailed out of the car and led police on a short foot chase in the area of the Tent City Apartments on Yarmouth Place just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

"The report we have now is that the suspect produced a firearm, he refused to drop it and the officers fired one shot. The suspect was struck in the chest," Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said at the scene.

The male suspect, who has not been identified, was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead."

As for my own personal commentary, when things like this hit close to home it's a bit unsettling. I'm glad no one innocent was hurt but this really goes to show, you need to remain alert in this day and age because we really do have crazy people walking the streets.
