What's not shown is what happened to the 20-odd soldiers guarding it.
They were marched up in front of the Iraqi soldiers over the border and the Syrian officer was dismembered alive - arms and legs cut off. Finally he was decapitated.
The remaining soldiers were shot.
This is not a popular revolution by patriots. It's a blood-soaked Salafist push for power and a Sharia State.

The only important thing is the port of Latakia and Tartus, where all Russian weapons are unloaded every day for the assad regime, ammunition, new armor and grenades. The Iraqi border is worthless!
