This is the same gun that is on the Bradley. Used to build them. They are just as pwerful as the 30MM that is on the Apache. The barrels are made to take the heat and disperse it. They were shooting is damp air, that is why you saw the steam. But if every commercial ship had one of these, the Islamic pirates would soon stop.

I vote MiniGuns with about 50K rounds in the magazines. Let them get close, fire about 2K rounds their way. I'd be willing to bet they'd lose their taste for the "thrill of the hunt" quickly.
