Safe Mode: On
True Americans Coming To Their Senses On Obama

Day 21: IBD/TIPP Tracking Poll

The race tightened again Sunday as independents who'd been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up. McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates.

Obama 47.4
McCain 44.6
Not Sure 8.7

Not sure means I dont want to vote for Obama, and just dont want to say it.

  • "True Americans"? Would that be like the Aryan Brotherhood? Or more like the Brown shirts in the Pre-Hitler era of Germany? Or maybe like the Age of the Inquisition starting in the 12th Century, when the Pope decided he alone could determine who the "True Christians" were. The church officials judged who were Heretics and who were not and it lasted clear into the 19th Century.

The use of words like "true" and real" juxtaposed next to words like American or More..

  • I don't support everything that John McCain supports; however, between him and Obama, I have to go with McCain.

If you take the political parties and assign them numbers, 1-10 based on their policies, 1 being extreme left, 10 being extreme right, Obama is about 1.5 and McCain is more like 6.8.

Between the 2 I have to go for the more moderate one. Even hard core Republicans accuse McCain of being liberal.

I don't really see how anyone could pick the one who is more extreme than the one w More..

    • you drank the Kool Aid.

      By your scale they're a 4 and a 6.

    • Very well said. I totally agree. It is good to see a level head on LL every once in a while.

    • Not even close to a 4, but I'll agree to move McCain to a 6.

"Spread the Wealth" take from the rich, and give to the poor ... unfortunately, it doesn't work. The government forces people to give up their money so that others can have it? Pretty damn near socialist to me.

Rising the taxes on the rich to give to the poor is only going to hurt the poor. All taxes are eventually paid by consumers. Do you think these business making over 250k a year are going to simply get taxed more More..

  • I'll be glad when it's over.

If McCain wins, I'll be tremendously relieved.

If Obama wins, I'll look forward to the near future when the press will start raping him with the same ferocity in which they've been jacking off to his image for the last 10 months.

  • The brashness & gestures from the right astonishe me.
Throwing around words & ideas like "Anti American" after the last 8 years? Really?
The Bush administration has been a fundamental blow to this country. There is no disputing that.
We are weaker as a nation by our own hands.
Yet Liberals are the problem? We are the thorn in the side of America?
You had your chance to ride rough shod since the turn of the new millennium. It didn't work out very well.

    • "Anti American, Terrorist, Socialist, Foreigner...... This type of divisiveness will cement this new right as nothing more than a lesson to be learned for future generations. "

I dislike the first three...the fourth is America...the melting pot remember?

People came here to escape the second and third and tried real hard not to be the first while maintaning the history and culture of the fourth. Do you understand?

  • There's nothing left to do except to vote until people like Mr.Limo are marginalized and left to ferment in their own bile after this election when Obama becomes their president.

  • Listen, the only poll that counts is on November 4th. Obama has maintained a 7 to 8 point lead for quite some time now and looking back on history, the polls towards the end are fairly consistant.

I'm going to agree with someone wise who suggested that the Republicans are at war within the ranks. They are no longer going to be in control here, very shortly and they will have to clean up their act and get back to their political base before they can move on.

Obama will be President for More..

  • I find the phrase "True Americans" to be amazing. The intimation is that IF you don't vote AGAINST Obama...then YOU are NOT a TRUE AMERICAN. What a sad state of affairs for America when citizens question each others patriotism because for partisan reasons...sad indeed.

    • For me it is not because he is a democrat, nor the fact that he wants to redistribute wealth....that is what governments do. It is because he wants to redistribute income from one group of citezens to another group of citizens...Huge difference, that is Socialism and anti American.

  • BUT...the problem remains...one partisan group trying to demonize the other side as LESS patriotic, LESS American. I know plenty of combat Vets of all the wars since '68 that are PRO Obama.

MY question...are THEY not WORTHY to have a different take (political position) on things and be labeled as "traitors" and "unAmerican" by people who have NEVER picked up a rifle, rucked up or endured combat action??

How can THEY (people that actually risked or got wounded be called tho More..

  • Just to show you how accurate the polls are in the last week of an election:

Zogby had Kerry at 311 EV to Bush at 213 EV.

    Enjoy it!

I predict the Libs will be crying on the 4th and Riots in Chicago's Grant Park... Buy some beer and watch your tv as the Dems implode.

McCain signs out number Obama signs by a huge number in Illinois.

  • Before you dirt bags on here supporting Obama, please keep in mind 22% higher democrats were polled. The numbers for Obama are even worse than you think. Cant wait to laugh in your faces. American is moderate conservative. Move to Canada if you dont like it.
