Nowhere near as funny as McCain but Obama was saying the right things to the right crowd at the right time. Had he been too flippant for the entire speech he would have come across as an ill-prepared comedian. McCain needed to show his clever side to tamp down the angry old man image and he succeeded.
All voters should see these two speeches and be able to see these two men as the people they are. The election was allowed to get way too nasty and people on both sides got too serious. Hell, just look at the comments that have been flying back and forth here on LL.
Quoted comment by Demslaq: It is too bad, bad policy, corruption, and greed has made so many innocent people poor suddenly...And them more rich. Wake up people.
They have nothing better to to do but laugh about it. I really do not think American people need to see anything like this.
They must see it! And be aware that they are all fakes and won't do anything to really change things.
They won't be "allowed" to even if they wanted to.
People must know that they often (..if not always) don't write their speaches and have some writers put funny jokes and stuff in, to help with their image.(image is what people do vote for, nothing else)
I've read people that say "we see them as they are", but it's an illusion, I don't know them, hearing jokes written by other people is not helping knowing them, and who knows them really, except their close friends and family?
Good luck for those elections because you'll need it!
