(Telegraph) Illinois state representative Mike Bost launches into tirade during a debate on teacher's pensions in a clip that has made him minor internet celebrity in the US.

Mike Bost, a Republican representative in Illinois' state legislature, expressed his frustration as he and his colleagues were given only 15 minutes to read a bill that had already been approved.

"These ---- bills that come out here all the ---- time come out here at the last second and I've got to try to figure out how to vote for my people, you should be ashamed of yourselves!", screamed Bost.

The red-faced politician swore, threw papers and punched them as they fell.

He then referenced the Bible in his rant: "I feel like somebody trying to be released from Egypt. Let my people go! They sent me here to vote for them."

Senate Bill 1673 which proposed that local taxpayers should fund teacher's pensions had already been passed by State pension commitee hours before it landed on the House Floor for debate.

  • I'd be pretty pissed too to have a bill land on my desk 15 minutes before a vote.

  • A politician with morala and compassion. don't know what he stands for, but reminds me of the good old days back here, Bernie Grant, Norman Tebbit, Margaret Thatcher, politicians from both sides who said what they thought and felt and whether you agreed with them or not at least you knew they believed it and felt ir to be right, not the sound bite opinion pole chasing morons we have today, who view politics has a way of feathering thier own nests.
Reminds me of a couple of lines from Apocalypse More..

  • and all the other representatives just pretend it isn't happening because they know it isn't going to change a thing.

The government is shit, change it from the top down, vote Ron Paul and work on your local governments from there.

  • Good for him. These tight ass penny pinchers that run our government could care less about us. We're just dollar signs and when it's time for the government to pay out money they do anything in their power to keep it instead. I'm sticking with my idea that we all go on strike for a month. No work until changes are made now. Quit hoping for a president to save us, they're all just puppets.

    • @Matthewselah That's ok. I doubt anyone can afford to take a month off from work anyways. That is how labor disputes are won in Unions though so maybe it would work and maybe not but I know for sure I wouldn't want hospitals to go on strike that would put people's life in danger. Or any job for that matter that involves saving lives.

  • Funny how this is news only because a Republican/Conservative acted like an everyday screaming, frothing-at-the-mouth Liberal.

At least this dude's outburst was based on facts vice sheer child-like emotion.
