LAKE MARY, Fla. 08-15-2007
A high-speed chase along Interstate 4 ended with three robbery suspects in custody.
Police first spotted a white Ford Thunderbird on Forest City Road after two people told investigators they were robbed at gunpoint.
Officials said the driver fled and was speeding through Maitland on U.S. Highway 17-92 and over to I-4.
The sheriff's chopper spotted the suspect vehicle in Eatonville, and at that point, the suspects apparently realized there was a helicopter overhead and tried to get out of the area.
Dodging in and out of traffic, the suspects exited onto Lake Mary Boulevard and fled after stop-sticks blew out their tires.
"That slowed the vehicle down. I guess at that point, realizing they had no alternatives other than to get out of the car.
Two suspects surrendered, but the driver ran behind a Boston Market and hid inside a Dumpster.
All three men were arrested, and nobody was injured. Deputies credited a sheriff's helicopter for helping out.
