China Bans Reporting of Train Crash Anniversary

On the evening of July 23, 2011, two high-speed bulletin trains collided in Wenzhou, killing 40 people and injuring at least 192 others.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) is deeply frustrated by reports that China’s Central Propaganda Department has blocked all media reporting of the anniversary of 2011’s deadly high-speed train crash in Wenzhou, in China’s eastern Zhejiang Province.

    • @NotJim It's all about selfishness. I see no differences between the implemented 'communism' in China, with it's infinite freedom for the leaders + friends and the capitalism in 'the west' with its infinite freedom for the leaders + friends.

    • @ATministraitor

The difference I see is the relative freedom of everyone else.

  • They literally started using bulldozers to cover up the fallen cars the day after the accident, while trying to tell officials not to talk about it, so even top staff thought it was ridiculous and talked to the press in frustration. China is all about saving face, it's one big fucked up mentality just as damaging as koran-thumping muslims or bible thumping gun toting fly-over state ignorance.
