Two clips of Werewolf Transformation from the films The Company of Wolves (1984) & An American Werewolf in London
A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope (from the Greek λυκάνθρωπος: λύκος, lukos, "wolf", and άνθρωπος, anthrōpos, man), is a mythological or folkloric human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or an anthropomorphic wolf-like creature, either purposely, by being bitten by another werewolf, or after being placed under a curse. This transformation is often associated with the appearance of the full moon, as popularly noted by the medieval chronicler Gervase of Tilbury, and perhaps in earlier times among the ancient Greeks through the writings of Petronius.
Werewolves are often attributed superhuman strength and senses, far
beyond those of both wolves and men. The werewolf is generally held as a
European
character, although its lore spread through the world in later times.
Shape-shifters, similar to werewolves, are common in tales from all over
the world, most notably amongst the Native Americans, though most of them involve animal forms other than wolves.
Werewolves are a frequent subject of modern fictional books,
although fictional werewolves have been attributed traits distinct from
those of original folklore, most notably vulnerability to silver bullets.
Werewolves continue to endure in modern culture and fiction, with
books, films and television shows cementing the werewolf's stance as a
dominant figure in horror.

"Mummy! A naked American man stole my balloons!" lol
I saw AWIL when it came out in 1980. I loved the Lon Chaney, Jr. wolfman movies when I was a kid, but this---wow. It was an amazing leap forward in special effects. I still think it's the best transformation scene of any werewolf film.

When I was 15 and saw American Warewolf in London, I couldn't sleep for a long time. Also keeping an eye on our pet dog. That was some intense graphics for it time.

I never knew that tcow was adapted from a previous media.
I always liked that movie because of the lighting and backrounds. It looks more like a play than a movie. That atmosphere is intimate like how dreams are.
Granted it has probably been twenty years since I've seen it, it may come off as cool as Howard the Duck if I were to watch it now.
awil.... infallable. perfectly frightening.
cheers

Vampires don't fucking sparkle, being a werewolf sucks and neither party falls in love with teenage girls; they eat them.

@seroquelnation
I've never watched any "new" vampire tv series or teen movies. But from what I understand, they've fked up all the traditional history / lore of the classic horror scripts and novels from the past. Sadly, another sign of the decay of western culture. lol
