Jay Rockefeller - Internet should have never existed

Quote from Rockefeller:

"It really almost makes you ask the question would it have been better if we had never invented the internet,” Rockefeller mused during the confirmation hearing of Gary Locke (see video), Obama’s choice for Commerce Secretary. He then cites a dubious figure of three million cyber “attacks” launched against the Department of Defense every day. “Everybody is attacked, anybody can do it. People say, well it’s China and Russia, but there could be some kid in Latvia doing the same thing.”

So I guess we should all just go back to the stone age, in the name of security, so we are all safe. Give me a break you evil bastards!

    • Help me out here. I might not agree with all of J. Rockefeller's comments, but it seems to me that he, for the most part, stated the obvious. Where did the "STFU" come from? Your own prejudices?

This post only reinforces the need to be vigilant on the home front and be aware that small, stateless forces with highly destructive resources are endeavoring to destroy as much of our society as possible. We don't need a continental-scale enemy to be afraid, we only need a single mouse More..

    • yes. I get your point. He mentions "sleeper cell" translation "democratic party". Frankly if you are proud to be American, examine what has happened in America since 9/11, how your life has changed (better? or worse?) Examine what the media tells you (Obama's our wonder boy, remember?) and most importantly, remember what the gov't says BUT contrast that to what they do - then decide if and where you will exercise your constitutional rights - in the next 4 years we will ne More..

  • It just shows the nature of the flaw of using the internet for such sensitive operations.
    1. If the computer isn't connected to the internet it doesn't get hacked.
    2. Go back to analog
    3. What he is talking about amounts to censoring the worlds greatest communication tool that keeps everyone in the know and that doesn't help keep the "peasants" quite and pacified, it makes them discontented and unmanageable, this a bigger threat than having all the schematics of every weapons system a More..

    • you are exactly right on your last point. This is why China and alot of other countries have placed such strong filters and content control on the net, the last thing they want is people getting "bad" ideas in their heads or heaven forbid, getting a though that was planted there by "dear leader".

    • They don't want us discussing their criminal activities as well, no doubt. They control the mainstream media and now they're after the net.
It's like after 9/11, Bush knew mainstream media wouldn't dare question the government about the true nature of the attacks, but he warned us all about the internet conspiracies that would be coming out because he knew they could not control that flow of information ... yet.

  • Possibly he would ban the wheel and fire.

It is people like that that do not want people to learn and become educated in the world and the politics around other countrys.

Now if some news artical appears here in the UK saying that opinion is this way and we have to take for granted what the media says is the truth.

We can now ask the people who are living in that area if that is true. He has got it wrong the internet is a good thing.

  • With the internet in play there's no control on information .
The idiots in charge must be freakin. I've always wondered why certain events happened but never had access to the background.

When you witness how manipulated the main stream media is you start wondering how far back the manipulation goes.
1913 - The Federal Reserve is created , WW1 starts the next year...
The evil people in charge have been screwing the masses for a very long time. WW1, WW2 and all the rest of the bull crap wars More..

  • The internet helps keep the world a more honest place also because the truth, differing philosophies, ideas and atrocities can be exposed. It is a tool of free speech and should not be encumbered in our country, communication is a crucial role in the organization a mobilization of peaceful and violent opposition. Can you imagine, cut off the internet and then start collecting firearms?

  • Rockefeller is the classic, filthy rich, democrat fraud. He "represents" the working people of W. Virginia, but he doesn't live there and never has, not really. He's also a total fascist, supporting the removal of all sorts of civil liberties for us "little people of no importance."

He hates the Internet because it makes it impossible for lying, sneaky scum like him to do their "job" with impunity. Assholes like him are all about screwing the public behind a vai More..

  • The internet is now just as important as television and radio became. Infact it is more important. Security will always be an issue such as safety in aviation - but don't be fooled, the internet is here to stay.
