Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman (R 81)

FULL 16 min (part 1 and 2) of Old dutch documentary Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman (R 81) was the second and
last aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy. It was also the largest ship
ever built in the Dutch navy has sailed. The ship belonged to the
Colossusklasse and was on 17 January 1945 in the Royal Navy as HMS
Venerable in service. The Royal Navy ship during World War II in the
Pacific deployed. In Dutch service, the ship was named for Rear-Admiral
Karel Doorman, in 1942 during the Battle of the Java Sea as a squadron
commander with the flagship Hr. Ms. De Ruyter had perished.
