  • our government was meant to be a tool to help an intelligent, informed, relatively moral country administer infrastructures such as levying taxes on international commerce to finance the country without sapping the resources of the people OF the country.
It was never intended to be the nanny of individual accountability, we're supposed to already know how to behave and thrive.

    • @ST0N3PONY Yeah, really great, print and drop money 'out of a helicopter' to get the economy moving...its worked so well for the last 5 years

    • @ElegantDecline Actually it was a statement on inflation and national debt. etc.

But don't worry ED. I'm sure everybody agrees that you're the brilliant economist here, and Milton never held a candle to your towering genius.

    • @ST0N3PONY Typical response from a weak mind who 'idolises' political figures, whether its Obama, Ron Paul or Milton Friedman without understanding their views.

The 'helicopter' idea although associated with Ben Bernanke is directly attributable to Freidman...
He believed you could increase output and consumption i.e. economic growth through expanding the money supply.

That's exactly what the Federal Reserve has been doing on a gargantuan scale since 2008, and guess what, it hasn't worked...di More..

    • @ElegantDecline The word is "you're". When you're calling somebody stupid, you aught to watch the grammar.

Yes, it is a Friedman statement, and yes Bernanke has been stuck with it. You're not teaching me anything here idiot. All you're doing is making yourself look like a jackass.

It's not something Friedman ever actually advocated. It was simply an explanation on how the effects of debt can technically be mitigated through inflation. The helicopter money example was just an analogy, More..

    • @ST0N3PONY Whenever someone points out grammar mistakes in a shorthand comment section, thats when you know they're lost for an argument

What, you can't admit that Freidman might have been wrong on something, is that it? I'm sure he'd be able to, and no doubt the experience of the last few years would give him fuel for new theories and considerations.
He did advocate expanding the money supply to fuel growth and wrote an entire thesis on how this should have been done during the Great Depressio More..

  • Friedman was a fucking genius. If not for him(a statistician)we may well still be drafting our military and punishing criminals with military service(not to mention his economic ideas)! I'm not sure what this video has to do with your tags "romney winner greatness, obama loser failure"? Milton would vomit if he heard either of those retards speak about their policies!
