  • I'm speechless. A written transcription of what they are saying in English would be great. Voted.

  • Yep, a very fitting way for a Kiwi to be honoured.

  • An HONORABLE way to say farewell to a fallen NZ Warrior. The Haka is an ancient Maori tradition, and is closely linked with warfare.

I notice the cortege was led by a Sniper in almost full kit, was the fallen soldier a sniper? Either way, it's a fitting touch. Also, in NZ, like Britain, Canada and Australia, medals are only issued VERY sparingly! There were quite a few soldiers here with several medals, many of them are ONLY given for combat operations, so there's a fuck of a lot of genuine war More..

    • @BunkerGearGal One was indeed a sniper, three lost their lives in this attack. This follows another recent deadly ambush on our Bamyan stationed team.

  • That's the first time I've seen the Haka in its actual 'war' context.

  • Watching the haka always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand, particularly when performed by the All Blacks. This though carries greater significance.
