Ansar al-Sunnah -- The Mujahidden and Loads of War Footage Part 1
Part 1 of 7
Ansar al-Sunnah, one of the major insurgency groups in Iraq, recently issued a one hour and six minute video presentation titled, "Path of Glory," containing a discussion between two Mujahideen and a plethora of attack footage throughout the Iraqi state. The two men, identified in the video as Husam al-Shamri, and Mohammed Abu Hajer, a member of the group's military office, speak in an interview format about justification for jihad, targeting of apostate Muslims, and denial of Iraqi government processes. Abu Hajer places significant emphasis on the desire of Ansar al-Sunnah to abide by the Islamic Shari'a, or rule of Allah, in their actions, and have followed the way of the Prophet Muhammad in their military strategy. Bombing and rocket launching operations, preparation for battle, and armed confrontations which target American and Iraqi forces are shown interspersed through the interview, Abu Hajer's words providing a segue into each scene.
Mohammed Abu Hajer claims that in the three years since the beginning of the Iraq jihad, the Mujahideen have achieved "very good results," and have gained much experience during this course to allow for diversity in fighting and choosing appropriate times and places for attacks. Though American forces are still a focus of Ansar al-Sunnah's aggression, Abu Hajer states that during the "last period," attacks were concentrated upon the Iraqi government and the state's infrastructure. Al-Shamri, the interviewer questions this point "Why does this come first? Aren't the government and the infidels the same?" Abu Hajer responds with several reasons for the strategy, but primarly argues that those Muslims who allegedly converted from Islam to follow the Crusader is more "polytheistic" than the "original infidel". He adds "Who applies the schemes of the Iranians in Iraq in order to establish a Persian country? For all of reasons that we mentioned, therefore we see that fighting those is worthier than the fighting of the Jews and the Christians."
The video concludes with an address to the Sunni people, calling them to jihad and support for the Mujahideen. Mohammed Abu Hajer urges them to not be the "ladder for others to climb to reach their interests," especially for those who promised to provide them safety and security in exchange for votes. He states
"We tell them to be proud of and assist your Mujahideen brothers, because with the name of Allah, no one else concerns himself with you and your safety except the Mujahideen. They were the ones who went out and protected your sanctuaries, and they were the ones who confronted the Persian sword, representing the malicious and the evil ones, and Jeish al-Dijjal [al-Mahdi Army]. So what is required from them is to help their brothers, the Mujahideen. We ask Allah to enable us from the land so we can execute His Shari'a doctrine and protect the people from the decay."
