Retro TV The Rat Patrol

This video is part of an ongoing project to build a retrospective TV archive made exclusively for the LL community on my Retro TV channel at

http://www.liveleak.com/c/Retro_TV_

The Rat Patrol was originally broadcast between 1966 and 1968 with 58 episodes. The title of the show was derived from some of the British commonwealth forces nicknames in North Africa like the Desert Rats or the Rats of Tobruk

They did a respectable job putting the complete series in a DVD collection. Worth the investment whether you're just a casual viewer, a fan of the show or a die hard collector. I recommend it. As far as I know there were 8 books and 1 comic series based on the show also.

Amusing bit of trivia. In order for Mirisch-Rich Television Productions to gain the upper hand in bargaining leverage after the first successful season, each major star was shown a separate script where their character was killed in action. So the actors couldn't bargain for pay raises.

  • RIP Roy Scheider; watched Seven Ups recently, one of the best car chases in that movie

I'd love to but I don't own the rights. Not entirely sure that I'm not going to get booted for posting what I am now.

This series is completely legit under fair use for reasons of criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. It's not here for me to make money on. But many sites don't want to be bothered when a corporation makes a DMCA claim. They usually just delete the account because that's the easiest thing to do. Can't be bothered getting into the n More..

I'll post combat eventually. I have the black and white and color intros to that. Rick Jason and Vic Morrow were a damn fine actors. As a matter of fact the guest star list on that show reads like a who's who of up and coming but not yet famous actors.

It was one of those shows where actors tried for guest parts to show their acting range. A way to build up their acting resume'.

  • A favorite tv show of mine too. Christopher George went on to star in 'The Immortal' which I also enjoyed.
