Originally aired from 1981 to 1983, 3 seasons 44 episodes. The series song "Believe It or Not" written by Mike Post, Pete Carpenter, lyrics by Stephen Geyer and sung by Joey Scarbury peaked at number 2 on the billboard pop charts shortly after the first season.
A superhero comedy/drama series that is somewhat satirical of shows like "The Adventures of Superman". FBI agent Bill Maxwell (Robert Culp) was always being kidnapped in this show, so was Pam Davidson (Connie Sellecca). They must of been kidnapped a dozen times all together! That's about 1/4 of the episodes one of them was being kidnapped. Okay okay, I'm not going to come down on the show or anything because I enjoyed it. William Katt was brilliant in this. Couldn't find another actor that could have played it better.
Although! Nathan Fillion (Mel from Firefly) once said that he'd be interested in taking the lead role if the show was revived. Which would be interesting. Fillion has that square jawed hero look, but is capable of pulling off an inept, comedic demeanor at the same time. If you've seen Nathan in the movie "Super" you know what I mean. That just might work if the show is rebooted. Nothing has come of it yet though.
Bit of trivia. Ralph's surname was changed during the first season run, his name was Hinkley. It was changed to Hanley. With John Hinkley attempting to assassinate Reagan the shows producers didn't want to have any association perhaps. But the name was changed back to Hinkley by the start of the second season.
There was an unsuccessful attempt at a spinoff in 1986 with "The Greatest American Heroine". But it didn't sell. So they reworked it as a final episode of the show to be sold as an ending for syndication.
I usually try and keep these episodes under five minutes. I dug up what I think was some pretty neat material and I couldn't decide what to use, the end credits of Hero run kind of long too. Anyway I dumped it all in here so this episode tops out at approx six minutes. Enjoy!

Were these really show on tv? I thought most people were homophobic back in the day or at least really deep in the closet, I find it hard to believe they had openly gay shows like these on tv.
