Yes, there will always be the exception to the rule when it comes to owning guns and if something negative happens everyone cries and places blame and points fingers...its the gun...if guns were banned...If guns were illegal...blah blah blah. Then you need to ask yourself why and how did it happened. Because it is a real problem and putting more guns in the hands of people won't help reduce crime or murders but will amplify it.

The fact that it happened in TX, doesn't surprise me. Of course they changed the law there. They still think we live in the old west. Early 80's? The shooting in which her parents were killed occurred in 1991.

As she said it was illegal for a gun to be taken into the restaurant that she and her parents were eating at yet the gunman brought one in anyway. Laws don't work against criminals.

If we had the advantage that Canada and Europe has, with few civilian own guns in the first place (although we wouldn't exist if that were the case). Then perhaps gun control would work here as well, unfortunately we don't.

The second amendment ensures the populace can rise up against it's government should the government become despotic. That is a guaranteed 'right' of freedom from oppression.

However if you live in fear like that you will never enjoy life, regardless of how many rifles and revolvers you own. They will always be scared, afraid to get hurt, robbed, raped, their property stolen or damaged. Just over the border in Canada, people are way more reasonable.
