The Soviet/Afghan conflict. CIA proxy war documentary.
Part of channel(s): Afghanistan (current event)

We've had a few good documentaries pop up here lately, so I figured I would post this. Not sure if this is a re-post or not. Oh well, I am sure some have not seen it yet.

A lot of these faces (Afghan, Russian and American) should be familiar to you all. I stumbled across this, so I figured I would post it on here for those that haven't seen it yet. The Soviets would have decimated the mujaheddin and won the war, were it not for US help (a little fact that the arrogant mujis tend to forget and downright deny). They (Soviets) went in and killed everyone in site. Men, women and children. They destroyed the mujis morale and had them living in constant fear by doing this. War crimes were committed by both sides in astronomical numbers.

  • The Funny thing is that untill now these Stupid motherFucker ISLAMOFACISTS think that they won the war Because Allah hepled them.It was not Allah it was the USA $ and suppor. Mujahedeen used to suck American dick for that support.
    Nowaday They SUCK PORKISTANI Dick.
The World would be much better and safer place without religions especially Islam.

  • I'm not sure if you can say the Soviets would have won...remember all the insurgent needs to do is outlast the occupier, its a war of endurance not open victory

I agree the Soviets fought a far better war than some give credit for though...they sent their paratroopers right up into the mountains to fight close-quarter

And yeah, as soon as those stingers arrive the who game changed...just imagine if the Talebs had sophisticated anti-air and tank weaponry now from another power....if chinhooks w More..

Lots of parallels can be made between Afghanistan and Vietnam, but just with the sides swapped.

"And yeah, as soon as those stingers arrive the who game changed...just imagine if the Talebs had sophisticated anti-air and tank weaponry now from another power....if chinhooks were going down ever week and MRAP's by the day it would be game over very quickly..."

Very true. It was that and the fact that the Russians did not abide by any rules in war. They killed everyone. Kill everyone until they submit, and it was effective. That was their logic and it was working More..

    • @Kafirindareelharb
that is not accurate the soviets went in and killed the afgani president who was carrying out killings of resistance members it was the russians who said to the government that they couldnt force change...it just spiralled out of controll when the US got involved didnt you watch the start of the doco?

  • Excellent doc. Thanks for uploading it. Also thanks to Jonathan Steele for directing it. His book, Ghosts of Afghanistan, published about seven months ago, is also pretty great.

  • The PDPA made the fatal error of not taking into account the feelings and tarditions of the rural peasants . Radical change can not be forced upon them ( unless you are Stalin or Mao ) . It must be done slowly .

  • i have not seen this one before ..seen bits and snippets in other vids though, but overall a good posting..just goes to show the way that the superpowers manipulate and generate other goverments as if they are puppets on strings at the expense of human lifes!!

  • Gréât documentry nice to see. Lots of good interviews. Interesting that the americans did note believe the soviets when they wanted to back out . This ties in with cold war stratergy based on game theory and directed by hawks like kissenger. Sad too see thèse two powers fight it out with the afgans as pawns .there was a time when things could have been différant for afganistan had it not been for the geo polytics of the cold war

  • The afghans who fought against Soviet was: Cave mans,Uneducated,Dumb,Retards,Brainwashed, had no idea there were been played. and you (i ) got to respect those US genrals who come up with the idea to use afghans as their weopens, very clever

  • Nice find. It's always better to view events in historical context, that's why I always like to watch the history channel, or military channel. It was interesting to see the lion of panjir too. He would have made a better president than karzai, the weasel of kabul. There are some pretty brutal stuff about 2/3 in too.

  • The last time of real prosperity in Afghanistan was lived during the socialist period.

Unfortunatelly, the terrorists, supported by the criminal USA weapons, ruined the dream of a prosperous Afghanistan and the happiness of millions was finished.

Japan now Brazil? Where the fuck you going to be from next??

I never delete comments for one, so I'll just let you make an ass out of yourself with that vacuous statement. Even the mujis should give you shit for that one.

LOL so you're going to try and tell me that Noor muhammed Tarrak was good for the Afghan people and that he respected Afghan culture?? Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright. There will never be peace in Afghanistan no matter how many times the Afghans, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Kazakhs, More..

    • @MR tommygun

What's not true? Everyone loves to tell us that we should "learn from history" and it works the same for the people in Afghanistan. They have always been at war. I agree, most of the people would love to live in peace. But the problem is the warlords and those vying for power.
