Amid a fierce battle between Assad's security forces and Free Syrian Army insurgents, fire swept through the old Souk of Aleppo, a historic covered market and World Heritage site. Rebel fighters and activists have reported that the blaze was sparked by the use of incendiary mortar rounds by Assad's forces.

'Incendiary mortars' exist in the imagination of 3D- shootem players only. Not in practical/useful military weapons.
The Souq is just one of the several Souqs deliberately torched by the FSA and Al-Qa'ida terrorists - along with plenty of Christian churches deliberately ransacked and burned.
The most recent Souq razed by the terrorists was the Aleppo Women's Souq an-Niswan while there was no battle in the area but the terrorists were in ground pose More..
