Krauthammer On Obama's DNC Speech 'One of the Emptiest I've Ever Heard'

"He pulled numbers out of a hat ... What we heard from Obama was a vision ... He doesn't say how he gets from point A to point B."... "I have a vision of America where there's no disease and everybody has a private airplane. But unless I tell you how we get there, I've said nothing."

  • objective for a guy who admits he's bias...well done...love the reference to the age old time, dating back to the French Rev...individual vs. collective...so true and we should have the conversation on that here. sounds like a decent version of the truth, finally.

    rhetoric is faux pas.

  • The guy's first term is FuLL of broken promises, lies, and cliches. So what does he tell America last night? More promises and more "proposals" on a bunch of hyperbole and bullshit. Just goes to show you how narcissistic this man is to think we're buying it again. But some of you will, because you are completely stupid and ignorant and you still think one guy named Bush created all of the agony in all corners of the globe. Go get a medical intervention.

  • Yup....and that thar jobs report shows we are headed in the right direction. Hell, we've been headed in the "right" direction since Obama took office huh "progressive's"???

Pathetic that ANYONE would believe that this administration deserves another 4 years...WHY? So we can continue to move forward until 70% of the country has dropped out of the work force?

    DON'T BELIEVE THE LIBERAL MEDIA!!

  • Excellent analysis Krauthammer; the liberals on this site AKA Sheep, will disagree with you but sadly, I had nothing better to do so I watched and I agree, Obama said nothing new, he had nothing to offer, if I were a democrat I'd be hanging my head in disgust.

Good luck in November, and Clinton wasn't that much help either.

  • I had no intention of listening to it but I believe you based on his other speeches. And, Obama and Congress are the ones that caused the trillion dollar deficits, not Bush.

No, Bush was equally involved in creating the financial problems we face today.

In the future, please try and be more intelligent.

    • @Tanngrisnir3 Bush used $270 billion of the original TARP and agreed to let Obama use the rest and the additional $350 billion if Obama requested it. Of course Obama requested it. Then Obama got an additional $831 billion in stimulus funds and then another $410 billion Omnbus. This caused trillion dollar deficits and FY 2009 spending to shoot up like a rocket with federal spending unprecedented in peacetime. O's federal spending rose above 24% to GDP for his four years. Compare that to ar More..

You're completely over looking two unfunded wars, tax cuts and an unfunded prescription drug program that lie directly at the feet of republicans and Bush.

Interesting how bad your memory becomes when the facts don't agree with what you're braying about.

In the future, just try and be less stupid.

      You are.

  • Really, this problem of offering visions with no way to get there has plagued Obama from the start. Four years ago, people were happy with just the vision. Now? Less and less so. The vision seems to be the same, and Obama has done too much that is status quo, not moving us toward that vision, and not enough that actually works toward those goals. What little has worked toward Obama's goals--health care--is disliked by 60 percent of the country.

In this vein, I wonder if it was possible for More..

  • Charles Krauthammer recently made one of the dumbest statements EVER uttered by a pundit. He said the democrats' moving the convention indoors was a sham because, "they knew what the weather was going to be like MONTHS ago!"

Septic political bias can lead to dementia - or just plain stupidity. Time for Chuck to retire.

    • @viennachoirboy Got a link for that comment? I'm rather certain you're the idiot here and have taken his comment incorrectly. No one is stupid enough to predict weather in the east US in summer. They knew the RISKS, not the actual weather. Link please.

  • I can't stand these dickheads and I didn't listen to the RNC or DNC convention bullshit but from what's being reported on the radio etc here Michelle Obama & Bill Clinton really nailed their speeches, even outdoing Barack Obama. The RNC was kind of a joke with the highlight being Clint Eastwood with a strange appearance. Sorry republicans if you are butthurt about my simple analysis of the reporting in NZ on these shams then you really need to check your outlook.

    • @boomersooner Just a couple of national radio stations. There's one host who's a self-confessed right-winger & loves Glenn Beck & Anne Cultier of all people. He's an idiot but so is the lefty guy. We don't have such heavy partisanship here but some people are pretty extreme. Often the most ignorant & annoying are the far left or far right.

Yes, Obama's speech was perhaps the fourth or fifth best speech at the Democrat convention. Romney's speech was perhaps the fourth or fifth best at the Republican convention.

In both cases, ranking them this highly might be generous.

The memorable moment from the Republican convention was Clint Eastwood's skit talking to a chair, and people are still talking about that, parodying it, and ingraining it in popular culture. This doesn't necessarily hurt the GOP.

    • @Tuuri56 remember, fact checkers get fact checked by fact checkers and so on...the only way to settle the truth is to disregard "fact checkers"

and go with 6 trillion more in debt in 4 years from a guy who got elected based on the fact he said he could cut 10 trillion (2008) in half and make oceans recede.

4 of the 10 trillion in (2008) was accumulated in 8 years by Bush and said to be by Obama...unpatriotic.

what does he call 6 trillion in 4 years then...?

    • @singlelife I'm so tired of correcting people on this issue. This should be common knowledge to anyone paying even the slightest amount of attention to politics. 5 trillion of that debt was what Bush charged on a credit card (2 wars, tax cuts on the wealthy, and Medicare Part D)

It seems your outrage (which I doubt you had when Bush was spending like a drunken sailor) is all for nothing. You're pissed off about something that isn't even close to being true.

      Yes, who cares about facts.
Like "honest" Paul Ryan telling BS in Tampa. There were several points in his speech that were simply lies, as you should know by now. Well, depending where you get your fair and balanced "news".

Even in theory accepting the use of distorted facts in political campaigning is just wrong and morally corrupt.
