2 found dead in Devils Tower KOA septic tank



DEVILS TOWER, WY - A tragic accident claimed the lives of two men Wednesday while at Devils Tower KOA campground, about 10 miles outside of Hulett, Wyo.Matthew S. Driskill, 49, of Devil's Tower, and Charles F. Hanes, 60, of Belle Fourche were killed while performing routine septic work at the campground located at the entrance of Devils Tower National Monument.Driskill was the owner of the campground in which the accident occurred, and Hanes was the owner of Tri-State Septic Service in Belle Fourche.According to the Crook County Sheriff's Office, officers received a call at 3:31 p.m. from an individual stating that a person had possibly falling into a septic tank."Both deaths appear to be a tragic accident," Crook County Sheriff Steve Stahla said. "The case is still under investigation, so at this point this is all we know."Because of the nature of the accident, he said, autopsies will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.Responding agencies include the Hulett Ambulance Service, the Hulett Fire Department and law enforcement from Devils Tower National Monument.
