85C's Aquarium Live Feeding 
Part of channel(s): Yoursay (promoted)feeding my 75 gallon cichlid tank with some live minnows. I usually feed dry or frozen foods, but 2 or 3 times a year I feed live. live food is an essential part of a predatory fish's diet, and a varied diet is a key part of keeping any aquarium fish healthy. all the cichlids in my tank are over 4 years old, and the biggest Green Terror is almost 6 years old now.

I used to feed my Oscars (Astronotus ocellatus) the same way, with live freshwater prawns (shrimp). They'd all school to together and the Oscars would nail them, one by one until they were all gone. It also made for great entertainment. :)

Nah, the yabbie's I had were about 12-15cm (5-6 inch) long. Just big enough that Oscars wouldn't go them as well. Though when saying that, they did appear to be very nervous yabbie's as they wouldn't venture too far out past the rockery they used for shelter. But yeah, you're spot on about dogs of the fish world, probably bulldogs at that. :p

See that's why I like our native murray cod. When mine was only a foot long it would go yabbies that size. He'd attack and rip the claws off first so it would fit down his throat.

nice tank man.ive had several over the years,none now.years after i had givin them up i would sometimes wake in the middle of the night panicked that the water had become stagnant and that they were slowly suffocating.i can never resist a peak whenever i come across one.
