Cochise County investigating rancher's slaying

Sheriff's deputies and detectives responded to an area northeast of Douglas after searchers found the body of 58-year-old Robert Krentz inside his all terrain vehicle.

Detectives were able to determine that Krentz apparently came upon one person when he was fatally shot and his dog was wounded.

Foot tracks were identified and followed south by sheriff's deputies, U.S. Border Patrol trackers, and Department of Corrections dog chase teams.

The tracks were followed approximately twenty miles south to the United States/Mexico border.

No suspects have been apprehended as of this time. A motive for the killing has not been released.
