dumb poll, that is pretty much how you handle a black bear.. You gotta stand your ground and make some noise and run em off. Either that or give way slowly and calmly. But this looked like his house so I say well done, I prefer to be aggressive as well unless I am in THEIR territory. That way they learn their place and its not in my yard. If you allow them free roam of YOUR territory they will use it so you gotta stand up to em run em off.

I'd rather not kill the bear, so every time it shows up I'd like to make it known to the bear that I do not want it there, and by all means that's what he did.

It's a black bear so he's pretty safe from any attack especially since this one seems pretty well conditioned to human contact and I say so since the bear didn't run immediately. Typically a black bear is always going to run away from a human,that is unless it's a sow with cubs then you may have an issue.

Been in several situations with them. Once face to face with a boar in the dark while going to my stand. A mere 10 yards separated us,but a couple of stomps and the toss of a stick sent him on the run. Once I was in a natural ground blind and had a sow with three cubs come in and they surrounded me not knowing I was there. That encounter was a mere 12 yards. @gonehuntin I live in the mountains of Tenn. We have black bear on our property now and again. But I have encountered them camping and fishing all over the US. They dont want an encounter. I've actually been probably 12-24 inches nose to nose with one in Grand Marais, Minnesota at a dumpster. We startled each other and both ran! ha ha.
Here at my hose on the lake in Chattanooga, the worse thing is I have Coyotes. But on my farm in Bridgeport I have everything imaginable. Deer, Turkey, Groundhogs More..

Doing this to a wild bear is stupid and dumb. Hands down. As someone who lives in bear country, the #1 thing is to RESPECT the bear and NOT treat it like some fucking stray cat/dog like this fucktard is doing. Younger bears are very unpredictable and this one could of easily attacked instead of run.

The most common reason a black bear is killed, is that a hunter will claim they were being charged. Feed and pet black bears....are you fucking kidding me? That is the WORST thing you can do for the bear as you are almost certainly signing it death warrant. I would never EVER tell people to ever consider petting a bear, RESPECT the fucking bear, it's not a stuffed animal.
