Videos have surfaced showing children carrying weapons and standing alongside adults in the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA). Many instances can simply be explained as parents wanting their kids to be dressed up in military costume just for fun and to stand next to their dads who are the ones actually fighting in the FSA. However, many reports indicate that in fact these kids are being pushed by the FSA into battlefields, to the extent that these reports are now being studied carefully by the United Nations, and the committee has already acknowledged some instances where child soldiers were being used. Human rights watch organizations are also investigating that issue.
