SAN DIEGO -- The driver of a red Mustang led San Diego police on a 100-mph chase across San Diego.
The chase began when an officer tried to pull over the driver about 11:35 p.m..
The driver sped off along Sea World Drive to Ingraham Drive, then headed east on Interstate 8 at 100 mph.
A police helicopter followed the 1996 Ford south on Interstate 805 until it exited at University Avenue in North Park and turned south on Boundary Street.
That's when the driver stopped the vehicle and ran into a house.
Police saw a man standing in the doorway and ordered him out with his hands up.
The man obeyed and he was taken into custody.
Police identified the suspect as 31-year old Fernando Armenta.
He was arrested and charged with possession of rock cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license, transporting and selling a controlled substance and evading a police officer.
The pursuit covered about 10 miles in about seven minutes.
