No its not you. B1 came out a year or two before tu-160. And there is an actual conspiracy theory that Russians ripped US off.
Great spy work anyhow :) Wasnt easy back then :P
Although Tu-160 outperforms B-1 by a lot, its much bigger and has 2x the speed and range.

The Tu-160 is an overkill, Tu-95 belongs in the last century, but Tu-22M3 is just right.
They're planning on upgrading their attack capabilities, and give 'em A-A missiles.
