  • Whoever ends up in control of Syria, they are gonna have one hell of a time kicking these fuckers out.

    • @MartiansArePunk I know getting actual numbers would be difficult to come by, and it is just my guess, but I believe groups like this are VERY small in number compared to the 'rank and file FSA' (whatever the hell that means). But of course the longer the war goes on the larger these groups will grow as 'regular' fighters get drawn in.

I agree they are definitely the minority but they are having a growing effect on the rank & file. Al Farouq Brigade is a good example of the foreign entrants coming into the FSA. Those guys have been hailed as heroes but have slowly grown into an unabashed Salafist group since inception. They vowed to follow Geneva laws several months ago and have since committed executions of would be detainees.

    • @MartiansArePunk Unless its those bas***** who end up in control, then the rest of the 'sane world' is gonna have new problems. I say cut it at the budding stage

    • @MartiansArePunk Haven't been following it that closely, thx for the update interesting info. As I said the longer it goes on the worse it gets, which I suppose is fairly typical. 'shrugs'

  • One firm stipulation from Washington is that they are not prepared to support in any way a FSA faction made up of AQ elements. Therefore you now see the clear splits between various factions with several denouncing -- at least publicly -- their ties or past affiliations to terrorists. Of course this is all being done on paper in order to satisfy the Obama Administration.

The problem, of course, is that this form of taqiyya is short lived and meaningless. The surviving factions consolidate to More..

If the suits on the hill haven't learned from being snakebit because of it endlessly since Afghanistan in '79. I wouldn't count on any of them learning the lesson anytime soon.

Well, to be fair the A-stan example was caused by a 3rd party, Paki ISI. The more recent examples would be Libya and Egypt with their loose bitter ends.

  • The US government is pumping funds into this shitstorm? And to think if a US citizen sends a measly dollar to someone back home in the mid east, they'll be sent to Gitmo.

    • @SpeckFettGulag Okay fine, if you want to drag Canada into this, go ahead. I don't care. We're all corrupt bastards. A reference was made about the US so I elaborated on it. Steven Harper is a moose fucking maple syrup guzzler. There, feel better.

    • @SmokeFerret Can't read SpeckFettGulag's comments (he blocked me for disagreeing with his idiocy) but I'm going to assume that he wants to drag Canada into a misguided "humanitarian" intervention. The best thing as a country that likes to pretend it has leverage in the Middle East but really has none is to sit this one out in every possible way (no money, no weapons and certainly no lives wasted for what is already a long and dirty war).

    • @sakb He said "Canada gives $2M in medical aid to Syria". But really, I don't give a shit when it comes to "any" country giving aid to those retarded dune coons that can't even aim a Kalashnikov properly. And even if no one gave aid to them, they'd still find a way to kill each other. I say put a glass dome over Syria, wait 1 hour for it to exceed its max PSI,and it'll go POP. All I'm concerned with is my holiday destinations not going anywhere past the prime meridian in the More..

  • More of a chance for them to kill each other. No problems here.

  • FEARS ?? What is wrong with Al-Jazeera. They have been in Syria for a long time and everyone except white house and news channels seems to know it.

  • Then Islamists' are the best armed , better motovated fighters then the average secular forces . The FSA should be supported all out by US . When revolution is over , the FSA can liquidate them .

So you would support Islamist rather than the secular forces who actually grant woman her rights as well as minorities. Secular forces who are not religious nutjobs and wouldn't kill you for being western. I don't know what the radicals have done to you and your likes, just remember what the Islamist did on 9-11.

First off Islamists are not ' radical ' , they are deeply reactionary . I'm not really sure why you ask if I support the religious over the secular , perhaps I do not want to know .

Thats a matter of huge debate . The Syrians are well aware of what AQI did to Sunni Iraqis .

    • @ComradeAgopian You say that as if the Islamists aren't already considering the possibility of being stabbed in the back.

Certain factions have been quietly squirreling away some of their weapons for that eventuality - unless you want an Afghanistan in the midst of the Levant, there is no easy way to determine who is trustworthy (and if they are fully trustworthy to the US, they probably would not have much legitimacy to the masses).

  • it's terrifying the way the US pretends to know where the blood money is going , while suddenly today Hillary Clinton has decided to change the approach , suddenly 'realizing' the nature of the rebel army has become al qaeda almost overnight
