Return to Death Valley. Series 2, episode 2.
Further stories of life on the frontline in Afghanistan, seen through films shot by the soldiers themselves. The men of C Company, 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment are getting used to life back in barracks and beginning to tell their stories of a tour far tougher than any of them expected. A timetable has been set for an end to British combat operations in Afghanistan, but two young officers led their platoons into an area of Helmand dubbed Death Valley to find a war that is far from over. While some areas are being handed over to Afghan forces as part of the process of transition, C Company's footage captures the reality of the fight against the Taliban in the Upper Gereshk Valley. During the tour they were blown up by IEDs, ambushed and shunned by a local population too scared to talk to them - until a civilian vehicle carrying three generations of one family was hit by an IED along a notorious stretch of Route 611 - a road C Company were there to protect.
The first documentary from this series is in my channel and the three from the first series last year are there also

what a stupid suicidal tactic, drop off a group of men into unfamiliar territory with an unfriendly populace to walk around in open areas that the enemy has free access to, the means and ability to plant as many ieds as they want.

@Fukmup Dam right, this is stupid from the top down and these poor lads have to follow it through. Bad tactics from their commanders. Either go out and smash things up or stay the hell inside.
Their immediate officers should not have taken their guys out into this.
They showed what poor leaders they were when that guy on point told his boss to watch that hay bale, his boss didn't take it in and now some poor american kid lost his legs.

@abmcell99 I guess you play a lot of Call of Duty to come to the conclusion you have better tactics than some of the best officers the world has to offer.

@The Grim Nope, I served under proper officers in the Royal Marines. That's real life and not COD, cheers for asking though. Have a look at the way the RM's train our officers compared to the Army, you will see that there is a big big difference.

To bad those americans pissing on corpses and dont have respect for anything that lives. But great britain thumbs up. Good job guys. You let the americans see how you act in a conflict. Not shooting children with drones and pissing on corpses but make peace for the civilians in Afganistan.

@nixonmills I can see you sure Are anti American but please don't stereotype just because there is bad people in the us forces.
There is probably bad in the uk forces or bad afghans placing ied's.
There is bad everywhere but America is just an easy target.
Nobody wants to kill children.
