Bugout gun Walther P22

Ideal gun for a bug out weapon. Very light weight pistol and the ammo is super light as well. Walther P22, 10 round magazine, semi-auto .22lr pistol with Streamlight TLR3.

  • i wouldn't recommend a .22lr round for any life or death situation.

      I dunno,
I had a walther p22 few years ago.
      Nice shooting little gun.
With some CCI hollow points you can do some mean damage.
Took out a couple of rabbits at the ranch from 25 to 30 yds.
Left a big ass hole on exit.

    • @jph1162 I dunno about you but to me this gun seems like something you'd use especially for burrows or something of the sort. The flashlight, the caliber etc. Or maybe to kill off an animal which you've previously wounded.

    • @jph1162 You'll be all set when the zombie rabbit attack happens then...
What about if China invades? Or (more likely) riots and police action.

exactly what im thinking. I don't trust it with the life of me and my family if it doesn't make the punk do a backflip.

  • i just dont see the point of having such a big bulky .22 why not just step it up to a 9 or 40...

    • @bushman42069 More recoil in the calibers you mentioned. and you can certainly carry far more ammunition with a 22LR. I agree though, it's a big gun for 22LR. 22LR would be a bit more flexible for hunting small game and in a bug out situation, that might make some sense.

  • Not my first choice of bug out gun. Make for nice back-up though. I'd rather have a Colt Woodsman. (con)Older, not cheap and kinda hard to find. Best would be Marlin tube fed .22 rifle. Small, accurate and most importantly, QUIET. Very quiet. No magazines, thats a trouble spot and mags fail. For covert bug out hunting/eating/survival quiet is key. .22 does have it's survival advantages. And any gun is better then no gun. Some guns are simply a good gun to get another gun with.
    For full on Zombie More..

  • No pistols for us anymore :( You can buy gas bb ones which look like that and would certainly do a bit of damage if you got shot by one but should you want to buy a blank firing gun it has to be bright orange. Clever eh lol.

    • @Americanalltheway The Dunblane massacre put a stop to that, very nasty but come on,ruin every responsible person fun and sport?.If im right we can have air pistols, long barrel pistols and black power ones but you probably need a special licence for them.

  • Eh I'd rather have a gun that weighs more and can take something out in one shot rather than 3 .22LR rounds. There just isn't a lot of power behind a .22, but they sure are light if you have to carry it. The downside, the ammo is dirty and the gun will jam more often.

    • @Sp33dyD3m0n

It's only dirty if you use un-jacketed, bare-lead ammo.

If you use "jacketed" (actually just a copper coating, not a true jacket) ammo, the fouling isn't a problem.

    • @jum_runky

can you buy jacketed .22lr ammo?

      Posted Jul-11-2012 By

      (0)

    • @GrandPuba

Yup. It's called jacketed, but it's not really a jacket. It's just a copper dip.

You can get jacketed hollow points, too, but hollow points are pretty pointless on a .22

    • @jum_runky Please don't talk like I'm an ignorant fool, I've been around guns every day since I was 12. The powder has a lot to do with it too since there is less gas pressure pushing back on the action. As soon as it gets a little soot the gun will need to be stripped all the way down and cleaned. Never use Blazer .22LRs!! Worst ammo ever for you .22s.
I just spent over $900 today on a new Nikon P-223 scope for my AR with a BDC, a new Remington bolt action in 270WSM (short magnum) and ammo.

Most of it isn't really jacketed like you would see in a center fire gun. It is more of a copper coating to help keep the barrel cleaner than it would be if you used bare lead bullets.

It is a term used by people who think there may be a temporary or permanent breakdown of law and order so bad you have to leave your home in a hurry to avoid the roving hoards of mutant zombie bikers terrorizing your town. It could also be because of another natural or manmade disaster.

The second type is what is termed the Get Home Bag. This is basically a bag with a few “necessities” you keep on you or store in the trunk of your car. These tools you believe you would n More..

it's this craze where you prepare for shit to go down. zombie apocalypse, EMP on the power grinds, situations where water food and gas would not be available and people who haven't prepared turn to "Marauding" , robbing innocents and invading homes for resources. Some people hoard supplies and play defense, other prepare "Bug out" equipment which is light weight survival gear such as strategically packed bags and light weight weapons for self defense to jus More..

Great answers - thanks for taking the time, guys.

Even though the term isn't used here (as far as I know) I'm annoyed I was unfamiliar with it since I a have a hefty preoccupation with societal-breakdown scenarios, undead or otherwise.

Enough that I'm still playing Left 4 Dead and Day-Z well into my thirties, anyway.

If you'll excuse me I'd best start packing.

Tried one out on a range and had the same experience. Had a lot of problems with the first generation - have no idea if they've fixed the issues. Wouldn't count on it either.

  • .22 guns are fun .

    I have a 22 revolver

great for defending specially in combination with CCI Stinger Hollow point ammo
No need for a heavy 9 mm in my pocket

    Posted Jul-11-2012 By

  • The PPS 9mm is almost the perfect carry gun but the magazine release mechanism makes it impossible to fit a decent laser.

  • Jamo-matic do your self a favor and dont buy one. My friend and I shot every type of ammo and he had 6 mags for it. And it always jamed and the only thing that would help is using expensive CCI stingers in it which still malfunctioned all the time.

  • Nothing like a gigantic, weapon mounted light to make you an easy target.
    "who's coming? what's that noise?"
"I don't know, just shoot at the light!"

Anyway, thanks for posting this. I've been looking for a nice threaded barrel .22 and forgot about this one. Was first thinking sig mosquito (uneliable) or ruger mk3 (expensive) now that you've jogged my memory about these, I will research it abit and maybe get one.
