Actually from what I gather Ahmadinejad's stance reflects heavily on the Ayatollah's policys and idealogy. Ahmadinejad likes to pound his chest and is more or less just bad PR for the Islamic Republic. With him gone will the policys towards Israel and the United State change, more than likely no.
I think the major hurtle in the entire middle east is the compelete inability to seperate Religion from state. A government's job is not to tell you what is "Islamic" or not. A government's job is to allow you your basic human rights which include freedom of speech and the ability to practice whichever religion you like. You enforce laws based on simple morality not religious mandates.
Things will not change in Iran with just a change of the President, it's in need of a complete social reform.
