The traffic in Ho Chi Minh City is crazy. Must take forever for emergency vehicles to get to their destinations.

  • I know there are very few accidents in south east asian cities. There's another video proving that: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_Yj36G9ukDc&am
When everyone respects each other there will be no accidents. Who needs traffic lights.

But in western countries you often think that everyone is for himself. The bigger the better. No one stands down. Sad.

    • I highly doubt they have a lower death toll per capita on the roads than we do. humans are humans, they will make mistakes and hit each other, period.

    • I did a little research:

      Vietnam:
      http://vietnamnews.vnagency.com.vn/showarticle.php?num=03SOC110108
13.000 deaths a year in vietnam (data from 2007; Pop. ~ 80 Mill)

      USA:
      http://usgovinfo.about.com/cs/healthmedical/a/aacrashdeaths.htm
old data, but it gives an idea (data from 2001; Pop ~300 Mill)
the data shows only highway crashes but it's already a higher death toll than in vietnam.

      am i missing something?

    • I think you have to take into account the miles driven by the average person as well. But that still is interesting.

  • God I love this, so much more efficient than stoplights when you have that many bodies to move around. HAHA look at em! They just start honking in groups and go for it!

It's interesting that they have less traffic accidents per capita, too. It's almost as if they're BETTER at driving than we are! I guess dealing with that kind of flow every day will gain you some good skills and attentiveness.

  • I was in Pnomh Penh recently. Traffic is the same there. Amazingly, I didn't see so much as a fender bender the whole month I was there.

  • Notice all the motorcycles? Mark my words. The U.S. will begin to look like this in the next few years. Waiting lists for scooters are already starting to pile up, and S.U.V.'s are going to rot, unsold. And all you small dicked Hummer owners might as well sell them for scrap, because that's all they're worth anymore.

But hey, all you folks who still believe John Wayne movies are reality and that American Govt can do no wrong, please, go down to your local GMC dealership and buy a Denali with al More..

    • So true. In my town, Belgrade I already see more and more scooters by the day. I started noticing tha since last year when I bougt myself one. Great for commuting, good MPG and the best - no traffic jams. But since there are more and more of them the cops will start noticing my squezzing between the cars at the stoplight :(
FYI if I ever scratch one, be sure I'll pay for it.
