Squirrel hunting in Wisconsin on a bitterly cold day in January.
The
squirrels were eaten. I mention this twice in the video. Yet, I also
need to mention it here, and hope you read it, since I get multiple
comments every day about how I should not kill a squirrel unless I
intend to eat it. Well, they were eaten. And may I suggest that you
should not comment on videos unless you take the time to watch and
listen. It's only fair - don't you think?
The gun used is an
Edgun Matador .22 PCP air rifle, sighted in at 40 yards (36 meters).
The scope is a Hawke Sidewinder 30 IR Tactical 6.5-20x (shooting @ 10x
in this video). The pellets were JSB 18.1g, shooting @ 900fps (274m/s).
For more information on the scopecam setup, please visit my Youtube
channel page. There you will find multiple videos showing the all
you'll need to know to do this yourself.

I
know that not everyone agrees with hunting. It's fine to disagree.
But if you are one of them, consider some restraint, and do not go
posting a string of words that would make your mother cry. You and I
both know that there is no way you'll change my mind on this issue, and
there is no way I'll change yours. Just walk away - it's for the best -
you know this.

Those tree hugging, vegetarians make me laugh at the stupid comments they make.

@mutterfudder If you were a tree hugging vegetarian, you'd probably make stupid comments too. Gave you a thumbs up.

We really need a cull of the American grey squirrel here in the UK.They carry a pox which is deadly to our native red squirrel and force them out.Their numbers are at an all time high.
Good shooting.

not a hunter myself, but I am an avid fly fisherman.
Good shots.
I never had squirrel meat before. I guess If I lived close by you I would love to join you for a day of hunting.

@TMoray1 yes, many flies can be tied from squirrel hair/tail. there is even one pattern called Red Fox Squirrel pattern. Very good nymph pattern.

@T0M65
House fires are often caused by squirrels gnawing on electrics in the attic and because you dont go up there very often the problem usually goes un-noticed until its too late.

@trubrewman And bark 'em. FYI, that's when you shoot the bark right under them off the limb they're standing on which knocks them out then you run over and pick them and cut their throat, no bullet holes. Popular in East Texas.

Another very good video. Voted. Tree squirrels aren't native here but some yahoo brought a few pairs in here a decade or so ago. A lot of people have pecan trees so you can imagine the little rascals had a population explosion.
Do you plan to put a squirrel recipe video up. The only way I've eaten it was in dumplings and I suspect there are better ways.

Squirrels are mighty tasty, especially when there is nothing else left to eat.
