For those that haven't played rugby, it's a tough sometimes brutal game when played fairly however, some actions cross the line of what is and isn't acceptable. Gouging the eyes is unacceptable and it is claimed that the Mont de Marsan player had his fingers in Hazell's eye. I can think of no other reason why a respected player like Hazell would lose it in the way he did. If the M de M player did gouge Hazell's eye(s) then he got off lightly with the beating he received.
