Bude lifeboat crew in dramatic high-speed rescue of fisherman and his runaway boat
A lifeboat crew boarded an unmanned fishing boat as it circled out of control under full power in the sea off Bude in Cornwall.
The fishing boat's skipper had been thrown into the sea by a
wave and in a dramatic rescue RNLI crewmen Liam Sharpe and Mike Tame
used ropes to slow the boat and jump on board.
Lifeboat operations manager Chris Cloke said: "It was an
unusual job that needed initiative and team work and thanks to the
rigorous training that the crew undertake the situation had a successful
outcome."8 October 2012

I like the way he casually steps onto the runaway boat.
The RNLI are very undervalued even though we're surrounded by water. Its operated by volunteers and funded entirely by donations.
Deffo voted.

Wrong maneuver. They should have taken the inside of the fishing boat's turn (starboard side). That would have kept the two boats together and they would have been able to increase the diameter of the turn quite easily by pushing into its bow until they got a man aboard. No need for the line traps and other nonsense.
That said, it's not everyday a rescue team has to stop a runaway boat.

@USA1 I thought the same thing. But on the other hand they would have had to hold a tighter turning radius to match speed. And if the jumper missed, centrifugal force might have carried him into the prop.

@Shazbot80 Im really not sure why you persist on trying to be a troll when you fail so badly at it. But it's clear to me that you can't get any fulfilment out of real life because you fail at that too socially and academically. But this comment won't make you stop because I mean what else have you got to do in life?
