Two British soldiers were killed yesterday in Afghanistan in a Taliban mortar attack in Helmand

The pair from The Royal Logistic Corps — serving with 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh Battlegroup — died in Nahr-e-Saraj, Helmand province.
MoD officials said both men suffered fatal wounds in the strike on Forward Operating Base Ouellette.
Major Ian Lawrence, spokesman for Task Force Helmand, said: “Sadly, I must report that today that two soldiers from The Royal Logistic Corps were killed in an indirect fire attack on their base.



Their families have been informed.

The number of military personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001 now stands at only 412.
