Safe Mode: On
F-22 and F-35 Fighter Jet Program may be scrapped.

CNN reporting that The aircraft built by lockhead martin may be scrapped because of huge problems with design. cost overruns, oxygen problems that killed one pilot when oxygen was cut during flight that have claimed the pilots life, as that problem being fixed new major electrical problems causes Bios failures are also appearing. Pentagon also disappointed with radar detection problems that where promised not to happen. the new generation of planes where to be stealthy but the aircraft is being picked up easily on radar that even former soviet tech could pick up, the main concern is detection coming over horizons. Also the pentagon is reporting that the new fighters have short range and worries of armies like china and other nations with ballistic capabilities that could knock out airfeilds that support and house the aircraft in the field this eliminating usa air superiority

with billions spent and shipment delayed indecently, the defense department is considering crappy the whole program that would be the most costly since its XM infantry system.

will post cnn link for possible axe of program it was on morning live tv, but here is a similar article in the meantime and below are links to problems

  • No wonder America is bankrupt its run by wasteful idiots.

  • If there's a technical issue with the oxygen supply then a solution can and will be found. There's been too much money spent to call a halt to the whole programme now.

Well about the radar issue? What about the cost? Seems Corporations were dumping shit on Uncle Sam until the recession gave out. It seems we lost focus onour future threats.

    • @ccfc Of course the first solution is to spread cash to the coruptitions that support this scam

    • @ccfc There hasn't been a fighter program in history that didn't cost. Yeah you can say that the costs haven't been has high as the F22 but neither has the tech.

  • At this point, we need to be looking not at what we've already spent--that money is done and gone--but at how much it's going to cost to fix the problems and build the planes. Switching to something new means completely designing a new plane from scratch, or doing redesigns on the F-16 and F-15, which do not currently meet the needs of the military in every respect. If the current mechanical and maintenance problems are going to cost tens of billions to fix, then maybe a new plane design makes More..

  • I can tell you without reservation right now that they will never scrap either of these programs.

  • May be? Both have already been effectively scrapped.

  • UCAVS is the way to go anyhow......focus on fixing any issues with data link penetration so that our UCAVs cant be used against us.....bloody hell....what to our strategic thinkers....DARPA....wtf?

Incorrect. The main problem with umanned technology - which precludes unmanned vehicles from ever being able to fully replace manned vehicles - is that they're dependent on wirless signals for connection to human commands. Those signals can be jammed or intercepted, completely nullifying the unmanned fleet.

"issues with data link penetration "......thats exactly what I was referrring to. That;s why I stated to invest more money and research on securing that weakness. Thats the achilles heel of UCAVs...

    • @AxisofEvil

I understand what you mean, but penetration isn't the main issue, sheer jamming is the issue.

That's something that cannot be countered - i.e. flooding the air with noise that overpowers any signal, regardless how secure it is.

This works against radar and communications equipment. It doesn't matter how secure the signal is, if it can't reach it's recipient, it's useless. And drowning out a signal with white noise is ridiculously easy to do. You just need a more powerful transm More..

Oh ok I got it now.... thank you so much for that information. I did not know the intricate differences between jamming and penetration. It seems jamming would be the easiest method to thwart such tech. Obviously, the issues mentioned must be going thru research to counter the weaknesses. I wonder how far are we from actual " shields" or small powerful transmitters. Just glad to be a part of this time period, where we can see all the tech and advances being made More..

  • Too much money spent already. Seems crazy to scrap it now, unless there's a practical alternative like the stealthified F-15 I read about a while back.
