  • You are avoiding the topic. You fail to understand that atheists don't believe in a god, because evidence i.e. science is just continuing to prove otherwise. But the key thing that all atheists have in common, besides the disbelief in God is that we don't waste our time trying to explain things that are unknown. We leave unknown as it is...unknown.   • much of my family is from the south. after spending my entire life going between the south east and west coast, i would definitely say there is merit to this argument.
    there is definitely a defeatist philosophy rampant, that exhibits in the form of the saying "leave it in the lords hands". guess they kinda forgot it was in his hands in the 1st place and things are happening exactly the way he wants, they just dont like it so they pray and pretend its going to be different.

  • Much as I would like to flaunt my IQ as the reason for my atheism, I think there are way to many other factors to state it is simply down to IQ. It may be a factor, but, you really have to look at nature and nurture as well.

  • Or..peoples religious beliefs prevent them from terminating un-intended pregnancies...thus keeping them within the cycle of poverty and without access to higher education...either way the study is still valid

      you have to prove your supposition before concluding that it invalidates his.

      Just saying "There's probably a lower percentage.....bla bla bla" followed by "See! That proves it!" doesn't cut the mustard. You haven't even attempted to prove anything.

    • @Simnut I don't think an reliable studies exists due to the poor self-reporting data collection. I do know however that the first time a saw a "Are you my Daddy?" call 1-800-DNA-Test Billboard.. it was in the Bible belt, and not in the Northeast.
