New Mitt Romney Ad Uses Tom Brokaw Broadcast in 1997 to Hammer Newt Gingrich over Ethics Sanctions

A lie VS the truth...Romney Airs Controversial Ad In FL Of NBC News Story On Gingrich

Mitt Romney has a thirty-second advertisement airing in Florida that consists just of a 1997 report about Newt Gingrich and his ethics violation on NBC's "Nightly News" with anchor Tom Brokaw. The ad is titled "History Lesson."

Brokaw has strongly objected to the ad, since it is just an extended clip of him lying.
"I am extremely uncomfortable with the extended use of my personal image in this political ad. I do not want my role as a journalist compromised for political gain by any campaign," Brokaw said in a statement.

According to CNN, NBC News is asking the Romney campaign to take down the ad.

The Romney Campaign has very craftily tried to leave the impression that Gingrich had to resign as Speaker of the House in “disgrace” when he was sanctioned in January 1997. Actually, he did not. He served as Speaker of the House for two more years, and resigned on January 3, 1999 after the GOP lost 5 House Seats in the mid-term elections.
