  • 1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
    2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
    3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
    4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
    5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and More..

  • The grocery store analogy should be feed for a national sales tax as a means of eliminating federal income tax. People who are smarter and harder working should make more. People who don't, tough tittie.

  • I'm and American living in a country with a flat income tax rate. 15% is withheld from paychecks, so there is no end-of-year filing with the tax authorities, to loop holes. Everyone pays the same. Imagine no IRS. I fully endorse the idea of a flat rate. It's very, very fair.

  • Sounds good. Playing the devil's advocate for a moment - The problem is the cost of living is progressive for those people in the grocery line. (ie. that $2 carton of milk is 2% of a daily wage for somebody making $100 per day, and only .2% of the daily wage for someone making $1000 a day). This is the justification for a progressive tax system.

Such rationale should be the justification for public assistance as well... but it's not.
Therein lies the problem with progressive taxation alone; there must be equal accountability on the recieving end and in arbitration, as with burden.

  • THE FACT'S DUMB ASS'S

Liberalism (from the Latin liberalis) is a broad political ideology or worldview founded on the ideas of liberty and equality. Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but generally liberals support ideas such as capitalism (either regulated or not), constitutionalism, liberal democracy, free press, free and fair elections, human rights and the free exercise of religion.

Yes, and had those that espouse progressivism and socialism not sought a more acceptable label to shroud their true beliefs, you might be revealing something. The word "gay" used to mean something else until it was used to give a nice ring to something that was socially unacceptable.

Democrats feel entitled to other people's money and thus feel the need to commune, distribute earnings, and eliminate competition. This is the party that believes the people belong to the Government.

Republicans believe in individual freedom and a capitalistic free market society that promotes competition and innovation which is what made this country the greatest. This is the party that believes the Government belongs to the people.

The choice couldn't be more clear for me.
