  • As an American living in Toronto right now, its pretty shocking to hear this happening in my neck of the woods, BUT then I remember we do have a decent sized black population here and then you realize that while very rare, crap like this can happen.

      Seems like the black man who died was the target and everyone else was collateral damage.

      This could've turned out much worse, but it was just huge luck that no more than one person died, although that could change with 2 others in critical condition.

  • Ah shit. We normally get around 50-60 murders per year in Toronto and they're almost all domestic related. This obviously doesn't fit the pattern. Gang related? It's pathetic to admit that we have gangs in Toronto.

      Wrong. In Toronto the only people carrying guns here are cops and some young blacks and I'd like to keep it that way.

      Blacks aside, the culture here is peaceful and non-violent and in Toronto, there's an average of about 50-60 murders each year with about half being black victism. Find me ANY US city that has such a low murder rate for 5+ million population with or without people being allowed to carry guns? You can't can you?

    • @John_Matrix - Why bring guns into the mix? Because, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. The cops protect us by investigating crimes, after the fact, and attempting to make an arrest in hopes of preventing further crimes. Very rarely are they in a position to stop a crime while it's in progress.
