  • Very very VERY rare, sharks very seldom fuck with kayaks. Tell You thing though, there is something about the color yellow that they like. We were out about 2 miles off shore fishing a reef, 12 of us in kayaks. Someone had made the joke to a guy in a yellow one that the sharks would be all over him.

Nobody *really* believed this, but after about half an hour at the reef a ~8 foot bull shark cane cruising along, it hung around the yellow kayak for about 15 minutes, ignored everyone else.

    • @Nothingisfree ye mate i think this story is fking bullshit he wasn't in shock he was apparently out 150 meters and his mates were 100 meters behind him so he was in the water for a bit before they arrived and somehow they managed to bring back his kayak even though it is in two pieces and it should have sunk and none of his mates spoke on camera about it. I think someone just wants a new kayak.

Well, I know alot about Sea Kayaks, but that looks more like a surf ski than anything. But Sea Kayaks have 2 or more bulk heads. So they are pretty much unsinkable unless you pop all the hatches then go over.

But yea, breaking a kayak in the surf is pretty common, having a shark bite one in half... not so much.

Why should it have sunk, i though modern ones were packed with polystyrene to help flotation.
