MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- A medical examiner will try to determine what happened to a man whose body was found in a tree during the weekend.
Miami-Dade police said the body of a man was discovered in an avocado tree in the back yard of Dorothy Saunders' residence near 166th Street and Northwest 22nd Avenue. Saunders first noticed the man's body about 20 feet up in the tree Sunday morning, though she had noticed a bicycle and crate under the tree Friday.
Homicide detectives said the man might have climbed the tree to pick avocados when he was electrocuted.
Relatives and friends have identified the man as 54-year-old William Collier, who lived a few blocks away from Saunders. They said the last time they saw Collier was Thursday.
The medical examiner will try to determine the cause of death.
