THE teenage victim of an alleged schoolyard bullying campaign has revealed his torment amid a culture of violence at a public high school in Sydney's west.

The Year 10 student from Sefton, was locked in a bathroom and attacked by a gang of violent students at Chester Hill High School.

The Daily Telegraph has obtained shocking mobile-phone footage of the assault, which took place about 11am last Tuesday.

The video footage shows the 16-year-old victim being confronted by a Year 11 student, whose friends block the bathroom door before the teenager is punched, kneed and elbowed as he ducks for cover. The Year 11 student has since been suspended from the school.

The assault was followed by a second attack the next day, when the 16-year-old was punched by Lebanese students outside a classroom at the school in Kenward Ave.

Bankstown police last night charged the boy and his father, 42, with common assault following a fight with another boy and his father outside the school about 3pm yesterday. The 16-year-old, who is of Syrian descent, claims he became a victim of bullying by a gang of Asian students about eight weeks ago. Before he was threatened with violence, he said the students began spreading rumours he had "hugged and kissed" another student's girlfriend.

His father said he had twice reported the bullying to the school.

The teen said he feared for his safety at school, adding: "I walk around nervous and afraid. I can't face it anymore. I'm afraid."

He said attacks between rival ethnic groups occurred at the school almost weekly, with Lebanese youths battling Asian groups both inside and outside the grounds.

He believed the bathroom attack was payback for reporting the bullying to the school and police.
