Why Obama Now
Do you believe everything he says?
Is he hitting the right notes?
How much can 1 president actually change in an office with so many pressures on it?

Yet it was guys like Obama who pushed for houses for the poor, and pressured banks to give them loans.

Yes, it is lies and empty rhetoric. But that does not matter. It is an attack on capitalism masked as an attack on republicans so Obama supporters will simply believe it as if it is the gospel. They have to. They've been taught to hate republicans and in most cases, capitalism. An Obama supporter who has been raised on hate cannot even acknowledge the lies because to do so would cause severe mental trauma. They'd have to recognize the foundational basis for all they believe is a lie.

Rigghhhhtt... yet we see markets are not inherently stable.
Prosperity requires stability.
Right now it seems like you are stuck in a time warp in the cold war.... because the argument right now is:
"What type of capitalism do we want"

if you ever want anyone to take obama seriously, you don't quote him speaking directly, you quote him by his actions. he is absolutely full of shit, and simply hearing him lie more does not make me any more encouraged to vote for him.

you would think that with almost universal internet access people would check the "facts" before making conclusions. Obama is good, but he's a liar and a fraud and he does not wish the USA to be great, he wants to take the A students, blend them with the C students and somehow create a nation of B students.

And the republicans want to make the C students D students so the A students become A+ students and B students are abandoned.

The problem is the neocons didn't cut spending along with taxes. You can't half-ass it and expect positive results by leaving future generations saddled with trillions in debt.
Then there's the quasi-government Federal Reserve which pumped trillions in fiat currency debt into the housing market while also creating another tax as inflation droped the value of the dollar, the real cause of our fiscal mess.
And if things weren't bad enough we're now seeing another bubble developing in higher l More..

What Obama is not telling us is that government is at its largest size in history. At one time in the recent past, we spent about 18-19% of the GDP on the federal government. Now, we spend about 24-25% of the GDP on the federal government.
The fact is that our government spending has grown by approximately 50% in the last 10-15 years. When correct for inflation, our per capita spending has gone from about $7200 up to about $10,500. A third of our current spending is new in the past decade o More..

I think you are on the money. Obviously your figures are indicative and not actual but the spirit of what you are saying is right... in my opinion.
My point would be that the closest party to bring in such change would be the Democrats and not the Republicans.
My guess at the likely hood of them bringing it in is:
Democrats 70%
Republicans 25%

@ElParcero
The odds of Democrats bringing in the kind of change I'm proposing? Zero percent.
Here's why: What I'm proposing would require a 30% reduction in current spending levels to bring us back in line, adjusted for inflation and population growth, with the 1990s. This means giving up all of the new spending since then, or else rearranging spending priorities to make room for the new stuff, including Medicare Part D drug benefits, No Child Left Behind and Race to the Top educational sp More..

You try to be too precise with your figures (I'm assuming they are educated figures). I don't believe you have the time or resources to carry out a feasibility study for such change.
I would put it too you that such abrupt change would cause massive social unrest as well as irreversible economical value, greater than that of the current strategy; which is to bring in spending cuts (austerity) in a slower more controlled manner.
All I'm saying is you can't expect whole institution More..

I'm precise with the figures because I'm looking at historical facts. The historical fact is that, adjusted for inflation, we spent about $7200 per person during the 1990s. Today, it's about $10,500. If we want to get back to a feasible budget, we need to eliminate the budget increases over the past decade.
Would this cause trauma and unrest? Maybe. But the fact is that we were able to live within this kind of budget barely more than a decade ago. We can't survive on the fede More..

What a steaming crock of shit from beginning to end. Detroit, or New Mogadishu as it should be called, is the result of Obama style economics. California, failing, with cities declaring bankruptcy left and right, is the result of Obama style tax-and-waste trickle-down-government economics.
He has the nerve to invoke the name of Henry Ford?... A fierce capitalist who made is own way on hard work and good ideas? He was able to pay his employees a lot of money (without union/government thuggery fo More..

@ElParcero Is that what I said? I'm sorry you're a brain dead retard who can't support his moronic liberal failure philosophy so he has to blabber random irrelevant gibberish to dodge reality.
You're too stupid to address reality and poke holes in free market capitalism, so you're talking about Hitler.
All you do is prove my point.

He knew how to make money, amazing industrialist... not all his ideas were brilliant though. That was my point.
At the end of the day Henry Ford did not care about the US or its citizens... he cared about the money... which is outdated thinking that is currently still very strong... one of the main driving principles of this recession.
