"I wish we didn’t have to stoop to this level. I wish they made it like a real fight. I mean, we’re watching the Olympics right now and everything is fair. So I wish both guys could only spend the exact same amount of money and let the best man win.”

This is fair, Mr. Rock. There were few cries of ‘foul’ and ‘unfair’ in 2008 when Obama raised $778,642,962 in 2008, because he did a better job of captivating America. But now that Obama has captained the economy through the least impressive recession recovery, Americans are showing that they don’t support Obama nearly as much.

There are an awful lot of arguments arising lately criticizing corporations and Super PACs and this, that, and the other, but the reality is that the candidate that wins will have received the most money because that is how voters show how important this election is.

Hollywood and liberals nationwide thought it was raging-huge-mega-ultra-turbo important that Obama replace the ‘W’ style presidency in 2008, so they made sure to make their thoughts known through their wallets. Now, the businesspeople hailing from a mixed bag of different sized businesses have seen the effects that have occurred under an Obama presidency, and they are spending to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

This is all fair game – it’s legal and a reflection of America’s opinion. Commenting pundits could say ‘Big-bad scary corporations are giving all the money to Romney and it isn’t fair,’ but it is fair, and more than just ‘big-bad scary corporations’ are funding Romney’s campaign. According to Kevin Danielsen’s article the other day, 94% of Romney’s donations in July were for $250 or less, so everyone is making their voices heard.

We can talk all day about what is and isn’t fair, but the playing field really is level when you look at it from a distance. Liberals and Democrats could fork over money if they really thought it was that important to get Obama back a second time, but they don’t seem to think that.

    • @WellArmed - why are people so interested in what these over payed celebrities think? actors, musicians, athletes, and entertainers should be taxed at 75%. the money they make is so over the top and yet they produce no basic necessities.

  • That's interesting. Let's look at the official numbers current through June:

Hmm....not seeing it. Keep this site bookmarked. The July numbers should be even more interesting.

    And the last election for...."context:"

I didn't catch that last bit of info a minute ago. Look down at the bottom line of the second link, debt. $2.3 million down. Wow.

  • The system is rigged! The constitution states "We the People"! NOT, We the lobbyists who fund campaigns. This is why the common man will never get his fare share and tyranny will always prevail. We work 3-4 months a year to pay for taxes. The rest is also taxed via food, gas, cable, phone, you name it, its taxed so if you add property taxes into the mix we work about 5 months strictly for the government. We are but slaves to these assholes and people will never see the truth because th More..

  • #1 - How is this not just a way of undermining the "one man, one vote" idea?

#2 - Wouldn't a larger turnout of voters (consistently being around the 50% mark is pretty sad) be 'showing how important an election is' more than cash-flow?

#3 - Enough with the 'hollywooding' of politics. You know something's wrong when people know more about a candidate's marital issues rather than tax policy.
