LAKE STEVENS, Wash. – A woman and her son have been arrested for investigation of 34 counts of animal cruelty in the first degree after 31 animals were found dead in a Granite Falls home over the weekend.
Granite Falls Chief of Police Dennis Taylor says the two were arrested at their Lake Stevens apartment.
Taylor says they voluntarily gave up three pets they had with them.
Investigators found dozens of cats and dogs dead inside the foreclosed and abandoned Granite Falls home Friday after a locksmith reported a foul odor. Only three cats were brought out of the home alive.
