  • I agree with Ingraham.... if the GOP can't win this one, they should recognize that they have drifted too far off course and either purge their ranks of far-right extremists or shut the whole thing down. Lots of people, including myself, have left the GOP because it has been hijacked by wing-nuts who refuse to compromise and who see non-conservative Americans as "the enemy".

One would hope that a loss by Romney in November would send an irrefutable message to the party that they are More..

    • @EventHorizon2012 I would be ashamed that Obama is running neck and neck with Romney. Not 6 points any more check the polls today and a lot of the for Obama's will stay home because gas is on the rise over Middle East.

  • I'd not really count Chris Matthews as a credible source for talking about conservative criticism of Romney.

That said, if we actually look at conservative reactions to Romney, Romney has never really been liked, complimented, or supported by conservatives at all. They didn't vote for him four years ago. They tried desperately for any other candidate this year. Romney is a liberal, and conservatives know it. They don't want him, and after the McCain debacle four years ago (party insiders on More..

    • @buzzardist What does it say about Republicans that no one likes their candidate but he was the most likely to win? All the other candidates were guaranteed to lose.

    • @Saros

The GOP has better candidates, but most of them decided to sit out this election, in part because many of the up-and-comers are probably still too young and inexperienced to make a serious run. That didn't stop Obama from running and winning, of course, but nobody really expects that same turn of events two elections in a row.

I'm not sure that all the other candidates were guaranteed to lose. In many head-to-head polls, Ron Paul was even with Obama or even slightly ahead, and he cer More..

    • @buzzardist Santorum didn't stand a chance. Moderates don't want a Christian Khomeni dictating their bedrooms, nevermind liberals.

The GOP is in a no-win situation -- if they go moderate, they lose the right, if they go extreme, they lose anyway.

  • New Unemployment numbers up crisis in the Middle East gas prices going to soar and it is neck and neck. The bump fell when the Libyans that Obama rescued last year killed 4 Americans. Now we are going to see drone missiles hit a building and Obama claim he got the guilty.
