Bomb Squad Detonates Pipe Bomb Found Near Oakville School

GRAYS HARBOR COUNTY, Wash. -- The bomb squad has detonated a pipe bomb found near the Oakville School in Grays Harbor County. The school was in lockdown after police found the bomb in a nearby baseball field.

Police took the pipe bomb to a quarry away from the school and detonated it.

Chopper 7 -- over the scene during KIRO 7 Eyewitness News at noon -- showed the bomb technician set up the pipe bomb in the quarry, attach detonation wires, move away from the quarry and detonate the bomb.

Oakville School is no longer on lockdown.

Police also reported that someone broke into the school's bus barn Tuesday night. Police do not know why they broke in or if the pipe bomb and burglary are related.
